My name is Jay Cadayona and I'm a photographer. I am no good when it comes to doing self portraits but since I need to put a face to this account, here I am.
I have been taking photographs for almost a decade now, and through the years of trying one genre and style to another, I think I have finally found my home in creating black and white images.
When I pick up my camera, I always try to remind myself that the photographs I'm about to take should not only consist of frozen light. I need to share a memory of what I see now, a memory of something that may not exist when the next generations come.
For me, photographs need not be fancy. I simply want them to show that even regular things, the ones we often ignore and pass off as mundane, still have stories to tell. I want to show things like how children from back then and children now still smile the same way. Just as how I get so absorbed into images that were taken years before I was born, I want to help preserve life as it happens so everyone who sees the pictures I share can somehow connect and have a glimpse of the memories they were not even part of.

Anyway, this post has gone long enough for me. I am a man of few words so I will just let my photographs speak for me in future posts. Expect more black and white images from me. If you're interested in how I took them or if you have questions regarding my gear, don't hesitate to ask. I am willing to share everything I've learned.
