On the Move: Capturing the Street Vibe

Our short trip to visit relatives and friends in the Philippines kept our week long vacation busy and schedule filled with countless meetup and gathering. I think I still have that vibe when I was looking for something to draw today. There’s nothing quite like the energy of people walking by, each going somewhere and a story of their own. I just finished putting this doodle together and it’s all about capturing that lively street motion, like someone holding a tray of treats high up to block the glare of the sun to folks striding along wearing unique outfit as colorful as their personalities.
Working on this piece is really quick and fun because I have inspiration that I brought with me now that we are back home. I enjoyed going through the motion I just keep layering the forms, the footwear, and the clothing elements, letting the composition grow taking quick breaks to sip a cup until the whole street scene feels alive. The cobblestone is an afterthought tbh.
It’s such a fun process remembering what I saw in that week long vacation and putting everything in one canvas. It pays to be in the moment observe, be inspired and take what inspires you and create something out of it. This is my remembrance of that trip not even a photo and of course the many Pinoy snack faves our friends sent us.
