I decided to take that sketch I shared earlier before my birthday celebration and finally give it some life and colors. Since I am always playing around with character design. The old drawing doesn't have visible arms today I edited it by giving this character a pair. One is holding it's tie and the other rests on its side. It’s such a fun detail to draw, and I think it gives him an immediately curious and adventurous personality.
I opted for soft, earthy tones for his outfit to keep him feeling like he belongs in a forest setting, but I just had to add that dapper little hat to complete the look. The hat I already hinted to use on the previous cute Cillian character but this one is definitely getting that hat. The teal accents I made on the hat really help the design pop, and I’m quite pleased with how the colors came together. Coloring is honestly one of my favorite parts of being a creator—it’s amazing how a few shades can turn a simple pencil sketch into a fully realized character.
I’m still practicing how to get those swirl details to flow naturally with the outfit, and I feel like this design was a great step forward in my process. Every character I create is a new chance to learn, and I’m so happy to share this little guy with the community today. Hope you like it
