This image after I adjusted the colors had a slightly deeper, more saturated tones for the trees and background. It feels like it captures the atmosphere of a "breakfast by the cliff" a bit better. I think the richer contrast helps the figures at the table pop against the outdoor setting, giving it that early morning under the sun vibe
I must admit that there is nothing quite like the experience of having breakfast with a view. Hahaha, I sat down to capture this morning "breakfast by the cliff" scene, and it’s honestly one of those moments where the company is just as important as the scenery.
For this piece, I really wanted to stick to that clean and flat aesthetic I've been refining lately. I spent some time playing with the color balance to make sure the warmth of the morning felt real like getting those greens in the background just right was key to framing the whole scene. Drawing the way we huddled under the shade while the light hit everything else was a fun challenge. Every wobbly line here is intentional I hope you get that drawing style; they’re the marks of a real hand working on a screen, trying to pin down a fleeting feeling before the breakfast is over. This is not about perfect proportions nor straight line drawing.
It’s the beauty of digital art it lets you play with these scenes, but the best part is still the process itself. There are no shortcuts, just the stylus and the urge to document the quiet, everyday moments that make life feel, well, alive. I really love how the colors came together here; they feel just as bright and vivid as the morning actually was.
It’s a good reminder that even on a cliffside, it’s the people across the table who really ground the drawing.
This is done yesterday and from memory so instead of being busy drawing I took a capture of that moment in my mind so most of the details may not be the exact same thing from yesterday I let my memory and the emotions from yesterday guide me today as I quickly made this urban sketch. I’m curious—when you’re out enjoying a meal with a view, do you find yourself wanting to capture the whole scene, or are you usually too busy enjoying the coffee to even think about picking up a pen?
This is supposed to be the final edit but decided to color correct it
The image above is the almost finished version I am just making sure the subjects are being interesting as they are like a dad the one taking the selfie, the daughter with her cap from the night sleep the son busy with the food and the mom who I must admit did not have much to tell hahaha
The early sketch putting everything in their right places just how I remember it from yesterday looking at it now the chopsticks I forgot to color on the final edit grrrr
How can I draw the umbrella and the table without blocking the view this is a little challenging for me. I drew some drifting clouds but they got blocked by the umbrella
Here a separate layer for the background so revisions for later would not be an issue
The base colors must be done right and this may take time for me to do because I avoid them clashing with the background colors.
Got no time to experiment with high contrast colors because it will really eat up my time but I am happy sticking with the safe bet. Hope you like it and thanks for reading
