"...anyone who says differently is selling something."
- The Dread Pirate Roberts, The Princess Bride (1987)
Life continues
The onset of winter has caused a flare-up of my chronic pain issues, and the perpetual partisan politics and pandemic paranoia in the public (enough alliteration yet?) as the election draws near is burdensome.
I rambled on about COVID-19 already, and I am reasonably satisfied with what I wrote about the election, so enough of that for now.
Games
I need to get back to painting my Necron army for Warhammer 40,000. I have added a few units to the army, and I need to eventually get the new 9th Edition Codex with the updated army rules and stats.
I also have some smaller kill teams in the works for Kill Team. I have some Khornate models partially assembled with all the evil spiky bits, and I think I want to build some uncorrupted Mk. III Marines as Alpha Legion, or perhaps as renegade Dark Angels if I can get my hands on a Cypher model. I also want some loyalist marines from the Salamanders chapter, because pyromaniac super-soldiers with hearts of gold are awesome.
I have another Games Workshop board game set in the WH40K universe I would like to playtest again before giving a final review. So far, I think it is more than just a gimmick to sell an assortment of old and new models.
I also have an old board game I want to unbox. It's a movie tie-in from ca. 1999, still shrink-wrapped. I expect it to be garbage, but it might be entertaining.
Drafting
I plan to sporadically continue writing posts about my old drafting tools, but I also want to go over the CorelCAD software I got in the Humble Bundle deal I posted almost three weeks ago. It has since expired, alas. But I can say that so far, it seems like a superb alternative to AutoCAD. I plan to go through some of my old drafting books and try to recreate the 2D and 3D files so I can give a better comparison. I am pleased to say that the minimal dabbling so far indicates the text commands should be mostly the same, and I was able to find the options to tweak some commands and appearance settings to suit my preferences.
October has been an absolute mess, but I hope to return to form and escape the dreariness of some of my recent content here. Hope to see you in the comments!
