In case you missed my post from this morning, yesterday was a trying time, and today's prospects looked bleak. My introvert energy reserve had not recharged much overnight, and I had a scheduled in-person outdoor craft event for the first time since COVID lockdowns started back in early 2020.

As I gathered a bit more bark before heading to work, it started to rain.

Swell.

Fortunately, I had already planned to use our two pop-up canopies to shade us from the sun, so it also sheltered us from some sprinkles. generikat@generikat helped me get everything set up, and also prepared some coffee so I could fortify myself for the event ahead.

Epic venison jerky and magic bean juice for the win!

Still, I was starting out stressed from too little recharge time and weather chaos stress and craft setup stress. And one of the little snots who always wants computer time had the nerve to ring our service bell because we were 5 feet from the desk. When I eventually resign from the library, I plan to announce it by smashing that bell flat with a sledgehammer so it can never ring again.

People started arriving early. I had a feeling the day would be busy. It was. I had 8 signups, and double that number of participants. I spent most of my shift running supplies for people who kept coming up with new ideas. That is the fun part of programs. People collaborate, share ideas, and come up with more than I could ever hope to show them in a structured presentation.

While I spent a long day on my feet, generikat@generikat was manning the desk inside, and she was subjected to single handedly coping with an unusually busy day. Our door count was something like double the normal number. And I was too busy to help.

But we coped. No one got killed, anyway.

Along with bark and moss, we had a variety of shiny and sparkly accoutrements, artificial flowers, and dyed reindeer moss so people could build any thing from all-natural color schemes to rainbow fantasy.

I had a lot of help from a couple patrons in cleaning up. I needed it, too. SO TIRED! But my weekend begins now. Yay!

Oh, and one last bit of good news: Unemployment Filing Lady got everything to work online with no issues today!
