Today when I arrived at the library to start work, my first job was sweeping up broken glass from our sidewalk out front. Apparently someone had a bit of cheap drunken revelry since we closed yesterday.
MD "Mad Dog" 20/20 is a "fortified wine" with fruit flavor, artificial coloring, and a kick of liquor. It is renowned for being cheap, and having little else in its favor. Just use the trash can next time! It was literally a couple dozen feet away. Don't break glass on our sidewalk again, please.
This kind of litter is unusual in our little town. Unfortunately, my first suspicion falls on the out-of-towners who have been invading to escape urban insanity, and bringing some of it with them. On the other hand, we have had instances of youth misconduct, including the library firebug mystery I wrote about a couple weeks ago. And the COVID-19 lockdowns have been driving a lot of people stir-crazy. Who knows?
