Hello again!
This was a drawing I made a few days ago but didn't have a chance to post until today.

I drew the pieta.

Sketching is so therapeutic, the lines especially if it's just rough shading can be a bit more carefree but still look a-okay

This is my reference though:

Perhaps if I was to make the full picture, I'd prefer a bigger piece of paper but for a smaller sketchpad I chose to draw the faces only.

I also moved the face of our Lord Jesus higher up Mary's arm to emphasize a childlike carrying and cradling. This in face is one sorrowful and grave scenes of the life of Jesus and Mary.

Info:
The most i know about this is it's called pieta by da Prato, Prato is in Tuscany. There's a church in Prato called Santa Maria Della Prato.
But I have no clue if that is because this was made there or if that is the sculptors name
If anyone has more information please do drop it in the comments.

I love this statue a lot more than Michel Angelos, both are beautiful and highly artistic this just looks simpler and personally has a direct impact on me aesthetically. It reminds me of Greek statues.

Little discussion:

Many of the religious art sculptures are fashioned to look similar to Michel Angelos works in the 1600s. It was beyond a trend, it is more like a genre. Religious art was prominent and expressed high artistic value. And many of Italian art inherits Greek and Roman style since they were the first to evolve in western civilization.🌿

The Result....

In contrast to the more sketchy-like picture in the beginning, the final result has got more shading and smudged a bit, some shadows cast within the veil and shading appears grainy. Also the face of Christ is more detailed and finished.

I'm using just one pencil and a sharper for practice. My sketchbook paper is a bit smooth and not artist grade, more like a good student pad haha.

I'm trying to look for my pencil case that has the usual 3b, 5b and 7 combo I use with a dash of 7b.
Looking forward to use the textured artist grade soon on my next classical art sketching.
