A word that has become a keyword that everyone in Nigeria uses as they keep the day going. It was a serious word back then but I can tell you now that it has become a common word used to express some feelings that are beyond one's capability.
A word that I hear more than a hundred times daily in the country where I reside.
You hear people say words like
"Please I don't want your wahala"
"Take your wahala and go"
"See me, see wahala oo"
"Don't go and buy wahala for yourself"
"If you want wahala, you go get wahala"
Sometimes people display their loved ones and they end up with words like " Wahala'' for those who do not get anything they tend to show up.
For example, someone showing up his mum, they end up with words like "wahala for who don't have mum"
All these are mostly used in a Nigerian vocabulary called pidgin English and it sounds even more interesting when it is expressed in this language.
Apart from how this word is used to catch fun, there are times that when it is mentioned you know this is for real and at such one is expected to be careful in such a moment.
For example when you hear words like " The guy doesn't put himself for wahala ooo" these statements sound so real that everyone who gets to hear such will want to enquire what happened.
Knowing fully well that the person in question is in a deep mess.
Aside from all the fun that comes with the mentioning of the word I will rather advise that everyone should stay away from anything called wahala as it is not a good one to be involved in any case that has to do with wahala.
Keep off from every form of trouble and be safe.
We Nigerians are already conversant with such words and we know exactly what to do when we begin to hear words like that.
So to anyone who will like to visit Nigeria, this should serve as a guide to you, register the word in your subconscious mind so it will reflect whenever such word enters your ear and you discovered you are in Nigeria I would rather advise that you evacuate such area with immediate effect to avoid oncoming danger as that word itself is hazardous.
Stay away from wahala, stay safe.
