Childhood memories are one interesting phase of life that I can never forget.

The single thought of how we aren't bothered about anything. We are only concerned with what kind of food is being served and what kind of play we want to play.
I could remember how I used to ask my younger ones what was cooked while coming back from school and the joy attached to the kind of food that has been cooked makes my day.
The joy of having those people around then, gives a different vibe.
The memories of hunting. When we used to go catching of rats, fishing, with our hooks and lines even though, we end up coming back with nothing most times but the joy kept the memories there.
A time when play police and thief, funny game when some people act like robbers while others act as police. Chasing ourselves with some constructed wooden gun, the memories of how we run through bushes, jumping fences and rolling on the ground giving a full action to our play not realizing we are getting ourselves dirty in the process, all these just to realize at the end of the play that we are too dirty to present ourselves to our mothers, then we sneak into the house, get some bucket of water, just to wash up before going into the house.
On so many occasions we get punished for our rough play but trust me the fun is worth it.
There was a day when my mum asked me to look after the house as she left for the market.
“Take care of the house, warm the stew later in the day and eat the rice with your siblings, then wash the plate before I come back.”
Simple instructions that could have save the day was destroyed by a play that took away my attention there was this local skating board made with wood, it has two borissis behind and one in front which is used as the steering wheel used to give direction as you sit as the driver with other people pushing you from behind.
It was double trouble as I placed the pot of stew on the fire to warm up, then left for the play just to get carried away and the pot of stew got burnt.
I already knew I was in a deep mess when my friend asked me to remove my eyelashes on my head and if I found it and did not see it, it meant my mum wouldn't punish me, which I did reluctantly.
I washed the pot and couldn't eat the rice as there was no stew.
Waiting for her to come back of course she got to know about the incident. At first she acted like all is well but it was hell later when I had forgotten I offended her.
After the severe punishment I only went out to be consoled by the same friends who landed me into trouble in the first place. This story has remained with us even till date.
If only the hands of time can be reversed I will gladly go back to that time when I bothered about nothing other than the food and clothes I will wear.
