Why do we wait for the perfect moment when the moment lies with us?

We most times allow our thoughts to deprive us of the current moment and we completely forget what is with us simply because we are bothered about the future we want to enjoy.
We spend the whole of our weekdays (Monday to Friday) going up and down just to take a deep breath on a Friday at 5:00 PM anticipating a sweet but short weekend.
We deprive ourselves of the joy that lies within the weekdays looking forward to Saturday and Sunday sadly, only to get there and discover they come with their own kinds of problem.
We want comfort at the end of our toiling, we call it retirement, but then we fail to enjoy that moment when we can still run, jump and walk long distances while still having a reasonable amount of energy left in us.
Instead, we wait until we reach a stage where that comfort is no longer fully appreciated simply because we are limited in so many aspects of our lives ranging from the kind of food we can eat, our time to rest and missing out on so many things that could have been enjoyed in the past days of our lives.
We spend time in the shower thinking of what business will look like today. That is the future, why not enjoy the moment feeling the warm of the shower and the sweet smell of the soap?
There is no better moment than now, all that is required is that you do not lose a moment thinking of what you have not yet seen.
When you bathe, enjoy the bathroom moment, when you eat, enjoy every bite and every spoon ful of the food placed before you, when you drive enjoy the texture of your steering wheel, notice every shade from the sun cast by the trees and if possible roll your windows down and enjoy the breeze that comes from moving your car.
I have been preparing for a big day in my life and I discovered I have been busy planning the future while the present suffers; I no longer enjoy the company of my friends as I am always lost in thought.
I discovered I have been missing the very moment that is before me just because of the moment I want to enjoy in the near future. At this moment, I realized that no phase of the present should be cheated of its season just for something yet to happen. I discovered that if I continue like this, I might never enjoy any moment until the day I am finally laid to rest.
Sacrifice the present moment for wedding preparations.
Sacrifice the joy of marriage for thought how to run a sweet home with children.
Sacrifice the peace of running that home for thought how to give the family a wonderful life after retirement.
Sacrifice giving the family a wonderful life for worry what will happen when you are gone. You can see that the cycle keeps rolling without ending.
Enjoy your moment, let tomorrow think about itself.
