The Gifts of Imperfection

A book written by Dr. Brené Brown with a call of courage, selflove, self worth and authenticity. He calls for being brave, kind and connected whenever you feel you are not good enough.
Rather Brown calls is to embrace vulnerabilities and let go who they think they should be in order to accept who they actually are.

Key Concepts

The book centers on living a life from a place of self worth by engaging with the world from the place of authenticity, practicing self-compassion, and a full packaged resilience living the life wholeheartedly and loving the life at the same time. You don't do it because society wants it but because you want it.

We see vulnerability as weakness in our own terms being submissive to a certain pattern simply because it's beyond our control. Brown in his book defines vulnerability as an accurate measure of courage, emotional risk, and exposure. Courage in the sense that living the real you without minding what people will say or think, the emotional risk of how people will accept you for who you are, exposure having a sense of giving out the whole of you not some kind of masked lifestyle.

Recognizing shame triggers and gives full understanding of how shame operates, and then it gives the ability to build the capacity to talk about it openly so it loses its grip on us.

The heart of the book consists of ten wonderful everyday practices for cultivating a Wholehearted life, such as cultivating authenticity, gratitude, intuition, creativity, and play.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do."

Sometimes we say Perfectionism sustains the ability to improve and give out the best in us but Brown says it is not the same as striving for excellence.
He further describes it as a 20-ton shield that we always carry around with a mayopic thought of it protecting us from hurt, when in real sense it actually shields and covers us from being seen keeping our real self in the shell and parading what we want people to see.

True connection can only come from a place of reality real people come from the world that is real and true but if you want to enjoy a sweet but temporary connection that fades with time as our fake lifestyle will definitely not be able to stand the taste of time the love and sincerity only happens when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable.

The book also talks about experiencing joy but then it can't come unless we cultivate it.

This book is a call to anyone struggling with perfectionism, the constant pressure of comparison, or the fear of not being "good enough." It serves as a gentle, yet deeply reminder, companion for anyone looking to quiet their masked self and live more authentically rather than living at the detriment of their true self.
