Does coffee rhyme with doctor? No, of course not! However, my kind, clever, professional doctor has built a coffee shop adjacent to his practice.
*See, he鈥檚 so clever!
The tiny shop has lovely cool verandas (patios to non-South-Africans ) and it鈥檚 blissful to sit and wait for an appointment over a cup of honeyed ginger tea or cappuccino instead of sitting on uncomfortable chairs and biting your nails in the doc鈥檚 waiting room. The staff are super friendly and attentive (they encouraged me to take pictures) and menu is perfect for a short wait (burgers and toasted samies.)
My mom was diagnosed with shingles so, unfortunately, we couldn鈥檛 linger and enjoy the fresh breeze in the open area (because it鈥檚 contagious). My mom waited in the car while I rushed into the cheerful place and ordered a takeout box of tea to savour at home. Boo hoo 馃槶. But鈥ut, there鈥檚 always next time, right?
I鈥檝e got to go back and have my stitches out (minor surgery on my nose.) Hehe, I feel like l鈥檝e faced the fire and emerged unscathed except for the plaster on my nose, that is. Hehe!
Mom, has to go back too. Currently, she鈥檚 developed a few nasty side effects, such as really sore ears, but doc has packed her to the brim with medicine, so here鈥檚 to hoping 馃檹. Also, she was ever so sad that she couldn鈥檛 spend an hour or two over coffee and snacks, but maybe that鈥檚 a good thing because it鈥檚 given her determination to get better so that she can go in an taste the place鈥檚 delights next time around.
BTW, the honeyed ginger (ginger is medicine, right) tea I bought is totally sublime; we enjoyed it with vegetarian curry (me) and cottage pie (mom) at home 馃槉
