While reading my friend @damarysvibra’s post on
@holos-lotus, I stopped to reflect on my own reading – after all, April is when we celebrate World Book Day 📕.

I previously wrote a post for the @hiveargentina community, where we were invited to reflect on which book had left a lasting impression on us. Faced with that question, a smile spread across my lips and led me to the door of my dear friend Papelucho.
That’s right; that children’s book I read in my own childhood was the springboard for my love of literature and of creating stories. Because one thing is certain: there is a love of reading and there is a love of creating, and although both walk the same path, they do not always go hand in hand.
As every writer who makes a living on #hive knows, writing comes with that stress we accept without hesitation, because from that very chaos stories are born that, my goodness, even amaze us.
What am I reading at the moment?
Honestly, I’d say my only current reading is the curriculum texts, which I skim through before each class.
Fortunately, the internet opens the door to a different kind of reading. This digital reading is ‘almost’ the same — and I say almost, because not being able to feel the paper in my hands, or that scent of print and ink, changes the experience — yet it serves its purpose.
My reading hours unfold through language, where I wander through how to use a dictionary effectively and how the ‘and’ acts as that connector linking words and ideas; then, I move along the path of numbers, as maths changes year after year. I continue the journey by reading about nature, domestic animals and food chains, devising playful ways to explain things better; and, at the end of my reading week, I immerse myself in the rules of good coexistence to conclude with Aztec culture: their religious beliefs, their politics and their daily life.
Among my books are the ones I’ve just mentioned, those that help me create the guides and those that prepare me to provide a better education. However, I cannot deny that I miss my novels, horror stories and children’s tales. For me, every book opens a door to different worlds, and I love peeking into those places where a smile has superpowers, where what you think is real isn’t, and where love always triumphs.
If I could read a book with real focus these days, I’d say it would be The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. I watched the series based on the novel a while back, but the urge to read the book and find out whether the series was faithful to the original is what’s keeping me on tenterhooks.

As I said earlier, I might not be able to read it in physical format, but the digital edition could be the solution.
To conclude, I just want to say that reading nourishes the mind, even though we sometimes forget to feed it. It is the mind that allows us to respond to various events, keeping us ‘alert’ to what is happening around us.
