Between Nature and the City

I continue to oscillate between nature and architecture, two perspectives that at first glance seem opposed, but which are actually part of the same whole, since on our planet we coexist daily with both human and divine creation—perhaps in a silent contest to prove who is bolder—but in reality, it is a fleeting struggle, in which humans seek to alter their environment, yet nature adapts to new conditions and, at the slightest sign of neglect, does not hesitate to reclaim its spaces.

Entre La Naturaleza Y La Ciudad

Sigo pivoteando entre la naturaleza y la arquitectura, dos puntos de vista que al principio son opuestos, pero que en realidad forman parte de un mismo conjunto, ya que dentro de nuestro planeta convivimos a diario entre la creación humana y la divina, quizás en un pulso silencioso por demostrar quién es más audaz, pero realmente se trata de una lucha efímera, en donde el hombre busca modificar su entorno, pero este se adapta a las nuevas condiciones y a las señales de menor descuido y no duda en retomar sus espacios.

This is how today’s photo series leads me to focus on the trees—their leaves, trunks, and features. This is how we discover an incredible natural world pulsing to the rhythm of a magnificent city, showing us that Caracas still has many green spaces to enjoy—and perhaps this is one of the characteristics that allows us to envision this capital as an environment where nature remains alive.

Es así como la serie fotográfica de hoy me lleva a enfocarme en los árboles, sus hojas, troncos y rasgos. Es así como descubrimos un mundo natural increíble palpitando al ritmo de una ciudad grandiosa, demostrándonos que Caracas aún tiene muchos espacios verdes para disfrutar y quizás esta es una de las características que permite visualizar a esta capital como un entorno en donde la naturaleza se mantiene viva.

Life always finds a way in the most unexpected ways. Sometimes the roots of large trees encroach on sidewalks or curbs, but in many cases this becomes an inherent part of an urban landscape where contrasts are an irreversible trend and, therefore, deeply cherished by residents, who have learned to live in a unique, ever-changing, and full of details—where every nuance has its own value. The result is a place that’s very easy to fall in love with, since wherever we look, we find one-of-a-kind landscapes with a blend of modernity and Caribbean nature that can’t be found anywhere else.

La vida siempre se abre camino de las formas más inesperadas. A veces las raíces de los grandes árboles no respetan las aceras o brocales, pero en muchas ocasiones esto se vuelve parte inherente de un paisaje citadino en donde los contrastes son una tendencia irreversible y, por lo tanto, muy querida por los ciudadanos, quienes han aprendido a vivir en una urbe única, cambiante y llena de detalles, en donde cada matiz tiene un valor propio, dando como resultado un lugar del cual es muy fácil enamorarse, ya que a donde quiera que veamos encontramos paisajes irrepetibles, con un sabor de modernidad y naturaleza caribeña que no se consigue en ningún otro sitio.
