Walking Through the Plaza Between Memories and Dreams
There are activities that become routines, and routines that are boring; unfortunately, the modern world is surrounded by this reality, where—without even realizing it—we get caught in a spiral where monotony sets the tone, stress takes its toll, and joy fades amid worries and complex situations. But personally, I’ve found a way to break free from that unnatural lifestyle, and it’s simply by taking at least one weekly stroll to any interesting and beautiful spot within the city—perhaps with the sole purpose of clearing my mind and reconnecting with myself.

Caminando Por La Plaza Ente Recuerdos y Sueños
I’ve heard many people say that Caracas is a boring city, full of tired old walks and empty places, but every week I debunk that myth, since I always find a pleasant spot to stroll through—always in touch with nature, yet without losing sight of the city’s magic. There are many parks here, many plazas, and wide boulevards that offer us different atmospheres, something for everyone, and direct contact with the reality around us.
Today I’m returning to Plaza Francia, one of my favorite spots in the eastern part of the city. It’s a public space shaped by the architectural style and silhouettes of the 1950s, and thanks to its designation as a national historic monument, it retains its essence, yet at the same time, it’s one of the city’s most contemporary spots, where young people gather and feel at home, and where hundreds of people pass by at every moment, always with a Parisian flair and classic elegance.
It doesn’t matter if it’s sunny or cold; here, the atmosphere is always perfect for taking a stroll, sitting on the benches, or simply enjoying a setting dominated by the city yet deeply influenced by nature. Here, the colors remain vibrant, the energy is ever-present, yet at the same time, it creates a space ideal for resting and simply savoring a moment to oneself.
When the fountain is running, the sound of the water becomes soothing music; the splashing mist chases away the heat, and the ever-blooming plants add that distinctive touch to a square that remains intact despite the passing years. This is a true example of well-preserved heritage—a space that has become iconic for all generations, and one that municipal governments have recognized must be maintained and preserved.
I feel happy every time I return to one of those places I’ve bookmarked as favorites, because there I can reconnect with past feelings and emotions, look toward the future, and dream big, but at the same time, this makes me realize that life marches on relentlessly, that opportunities must be seized when they arise, since when we first visit a place, we might be 15 or 20 years old, and in the blink of an eye, we’re sitting in front of that same place at 60 or 70.
