Como quizá ya saben sigo en Buenos Aires, lo que no saben, pero ahora sabrán, es que hoy hice un descubrimiento interesante. Al viajar hacia el centro del barrio de Belgrano, en la línea D del subterráneo, llegué a la estación de juramento. ¿Y que tiene eso de interesante? Pues que en esta estación hay una exhibición variada de muchas cosas temas muy interesantes a las que tomé unas cuantas fotos (de forma apresurada porque tenía varias diligencias que hacer) y que quiero compartirles.
Por un lado me encontré con pinturas muy bonitas y luego con exhibiciones, por ejemplo una miniatura del Crucero ARA General Belgrano, que según estuve leyendo fue un crucero ligero que Argentina compró a Estados en 1951 y que fue hundido en combate en 1982. Seguramente fue una pieza clave en muchas batallas y en la historia Argentina.
Tambien pude encontrar una exhibición en dónde había muchas cosas relacionadas con aviación y todas giraban en torno al Ingeniero Jorge Newbery, quien fue el fundador de la aeronáutica nacional.
He escuchado tanto ese nombre desde que llegué, que me puse a investigar un poco y encontré que Jorge Newbery, fue un ingeniero y aviador, pionero en todo lo relacionado con la aviación en Argentina; ademas de ser el fundador de la aeronáutica nacional fue director de las instalaciones eléctricas, mecanicas y alumbrado de Buenos Aires. Lo que explica que sea tan respetado y admirado, por todo el progreso que trajo con su trabajo.
Las exhibiciones en dónde se resaltaban a los personajes ilustres de la patria incluían fotografías antiguas o réplicas de objetos como por ejemplo el sable del General Martin Miguel de Güemes, y estás exhibiciones pertenecen al museo histórico de la gendarmería nacional.
Me parece súper bonito y valioso encontrar esa parte de la historia de la ciudad y del país en un lugar tan transitado como la estación del subterráneo, aunque yo era la única que se detenía a ver y a fotografiar. Seguramente las personas me veian como la turista que se deslumbra con la novedad. Igual debo volver y detenerme un poco más en cada pieza para de verdad valorarla.
No todas las exhibiciones eran de personajes históricos, pues había una vitrina que invitaba a visitar el Museo de Arte Popular y otras, las que me parecieron más interesantes, tenían hallazgos subterráneos: fósiles encontrados al excavar los túneles de los trenes que sirven de transporte a la ciudad.
Quizá el más impresionante sea el enorme caparazón, que al parecer no es de tortuga sino de algo mas parecido a un armadillo prehistórico, un Glitodonte, Sclerocalyptus Ornatus. No pude detenerme el tiempo suficiente para tomarles unas buenas fotos porque ya iba tarde, pero cuando tenga oportunidad volveré por allí.
Hasta ahora no he visto otras exhibiciones como esta en otras estaciones del subterráneo (aunque por ahora he visitado muy pocas), la verdad desconozco si habrá o si tendrán otras temáticas, pero de verdad fue una sorpresa muy agradable. Lo que si me parece una lastima es que todo el mundo pase por ahí tan apresurado (incluso yo misma iba apurada) y que nadie se detenga unos minutos para disfrutarlas y valorarlas.
Aún hay mucho que descubrir y explorar en esta maravillosa ciudad. Ya les iré contando.
As you may already know, I'm still in Buenos Aires, what you don't know, but now you will know, is that today I made an interesting discovery. Traveling towards the center of the Belgrano neighborhood, on subway line D, I arrived at the Oath station. And what's so interesting about that? Well, at this station there is a varied exhibition of many very interesting things, of which I took a few photos (in a hurry because I had several errands to do) and that I want to share with you.
On the one hand I found very beautiful paintings and then with exhibitions, for example a miniature of the ARA General Belgrano Cruiser, which according to what I was reading was a light cruiser that Argentina bought from the United States in 1951 and that was sunk in combat in 1982. Surely it was a key piece in many battles and in Argentine history.
I was also able to find an exhibition where there were many things related to aviation and they all revolved around Engineer Jorge Newbery, who was the founder of national aeronautics.
I have heard that name so much since I arrived that I started doing a little research and found that Jorge Newbery was an engineer and aviator, a pioneer in everything related to aviation in Argentina; In addition to being the founder of the national aeronautics, he was director of the electrical, mechanical and lighting installations of Buenos Aires. Which explains why he is so respected and admired, for all the progress he brought with his work.
The exhibits that highlighted the country's illustrious figures included old photographs or replicas of objects such as the saber of General Martin Miguel de Güemes, and these exhibits belong to the historical museum of the national gendarmerie.
I find it super nice and valuable to find that part of the history of the city and the country in a place as busy as the subway station, although I was the only one who stopped to see and photograph. Surely people saw me as the tourist who is dazzled by the novelty. Maybe I have to go back and stop a little longer at each piece to really value it.
Not all the exhibits were about historical figures, as there was a showcase that invited you to visit the Museum of Popular Art and others, the ones that seemed most interesting to me, had underground finds: fossils found when excavating the tunnels of the trains that serve as transportation to the city.
Perhaps the most impressive is the enormous shell, which apparently is not that of a turtle but something more similar to a prehistoric armadillo, a Glitodon, Sclerocalyptus Ornatus. I couldn't stop long enough to take some good photos because I was already late, but when I have the chance I'll come back there.
Until now I have not seen other exhibitions like this in other subway stations (although so far I have visited very few), the truth is I don't know if there will be or if they will have other themes, but it was truly a very pleasant surprise. What does seem a shame to me is that everyone passes by in such a hurry (even I was in a hurry myself) and that no one stops for a few minutes to enjoy and appreciate them.
There is still much to discover and explore in this wonderful city. I'll tell you about it.
