De paseo en una feria rusa, en Buenos Aires [Es -En]

Durante el pasado fin de semana nos aventuramos a conocer algunos de los emprendedores de la zona, que participaban en una feria, muy cerca de nuestra residencia.

La feria Isba, realizada por un grupo de emprendedores rusos, que residen en Buenos Aires, lleva varias ediciones y cuenta con variedad de productos: dulces variados, encurtidos, panadería, productos ahumados, cerámica y más.

Nuestra primera parada fue donde esta amable señorita que prepara deliciosos encurtidos con su receta casera. Ya habíamos probado sus productos porque la conocimos en otra feria que también realiza la comunidad de emprendedores de origen Ruso: la feria Aurora.

Sus coloridos frascos contienen un montón de sabor y las presentaciones son realmente cuidadas. Nos ofreció probar su receta casera de Chucrut (repollo fermentado), tomates Cherrys en conserva, un puré de zuquini y dos preparaciones distintas con base de berenjena; pero también tenía pepinillos en encurtidos y otras preparaciones.

Así fue como atrapada por la magia de los sabores, adquirí un frasco de sus deliciosos productos y para cuando me di cuenta mi mamá ya estaba llevando uno distinto al mío para compartir durante la cena.

Conversando de puesto en puesto, fuimos probando productos y conociendo un poco de la historia de estos artesanos.

El lugar donde se desarrolló la feria es el patio de un café, fresco y agradable, por lo que el ambiente estaba aromatizado por panificados recién hechos y café delicioso. Además había música en vivo y sorteos de algunos productos de los emprendedores, lo que generaba un ambiente alegre y festivo.

El puesto de los productos ahumados tenía trozos de quesos, peces y carne de distintos tipos; el joven me explicó que usaba técnicas de ahumado en frío y en caliente y que los resultados en el sabor eran muy distintos. Me dió a probar trucha ahumada en frío y me pareció deliciosa, también me ofreció probar los otros productos, pero como no tenía presupuesto para adquirir ninguno de sus preparados no quise abusar de las muestras gratis.

Uno de mis puestos favoritos fue el que ofrecía cuadraditos de chocolate, pequeñas explosiones de sabor muy originales. Mezclas increíbles como por ejemplo una que tenía maracuyá, chocolate blanco y un toque de picante (esa fue mi favorita), pero también había con frutos rojos, macha, lavanda, chocolate oscuro, nueces y quién sabe que matices distintos. Toda una experiencia increíble que me dejó alucinada y encantada. Lamentablemente mi presupuesto ajustado no me permitió comprarle en esta ocasión pero me agende su Instagram para una futura compra.

Cada emprendedor nos contaba de su producto, de su proceso, de su historia, con ese brillo mágico e intenso en sus ojos, ese que refleja la pasión por sus productos y el amor por lo que hace. Yo también he estado en su lugar y sé el acto de valentía que es tomar el riesgo de pagar un stand en una feria sin saber si se venderá algo, sin saber si valdrá la pena.

Algunos de los expositores no hablaban mucho español, pero se apoyaban unos con otros para hacerse entender y los otros asistentes a la feria también apoyaban de intérprete cuando presenciaban una situación de dificultad comunicativa y eso me hizo sentir muy bien, porque me recordó que aún hay muchas buenas personas en el mundo.

Para cuándo terminamos el circuito, llevábamos 2 frascos de encurtidos, 1 dulce de semillas de girasol y otro encurtido de un puesto distinto; pero también llevábamos la energía recargada por haber pasado un rato diferente, divertido, interesante y delicioso. Porque no solo adquirimos productos, vivimos toda una experiencia, compramos productos hechos de forma artesanal que llevan un poquito del corazón de quienes lo fabrican y aportamos un granito de arena para que no se rindan en el viaje.

Last weekend we ventured out to meet some of the local entrepreneurs participating in a fair very close to our residence.

The Isba fair, organized by a group of Russian entrepreneurs living in Buenos Aires, has been held for several years and features a variety of products: sweets, pickles, baked goods, smoked products, ceramics, and more.

Our first stop was at this friendly young woman's stand, where she prepares delicious pickles using her homemade recipe. We had already tried her products because we met her at another fair organized by the Russian entrepreneurial community: the Aurora Fair.

Her colorful jars are packed with flavor, and the presentations are truly beautiful. She offered us samples of her homemade sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), preserved cherry tomatoes, zucchini puree, and two different eggplant-based dishes; she also had pickled cucumbers and other preparations.

That's how, captivated by the magic of the flavors, I bought a jar of her delicious products, and before I knew it, my mom was already bringing a different one to share during dinner.

Walking from stall to stall, we sampled products and learned a bit about the history of these artisans.

The fair was held in the patio of a café, a cool and pleasant space, where the aroma of freshly baked bread and delicious coffee filled the air. There was also live music and raffles for some of the entrepreneurs' products, creating a cheerful and festive atmosphere.

The smoked goods stall had pieces of cheese, fish, and various types of meat. The young man explained that he used cold and hot smoking techniques and that the resulting flavors were very different. He gave me a taste of cold-smoked trout, which I found delicious. He also offered me samples of his other products, but since I didn't have the budget to buy any of his items, I didn't want to take advantage of the free samples.

One of my favorite stalls was the one offering chocolate squares—little explosions of very original flavors. Incredible combinations, like one with passion fruit, white chocolate, and a touch of spice (that was my favorite), but there were also some with red berries, matcha, lavender, dark chocolate, nuts, and who knows what other nuances. It was a truly amazing experience that left me amazed and delighted. Unfortunately, my tight budget didn't allow me to buy from them this time, but I saved their Instagram for a future purchase.

Each entrepreneur told us about their product, their process, their story, with that magical and intense sparkle in their eyes, the one that reflects their passion for their products and their love for what they do. I've been in their shoes too, and I know the act of courage it takes to risk paying for a booth at a fair without knowing if anything will sell, without knowing if it will be worth it.

Some of the exhibitors didn't speak much Spanish, but they supported each other to make themselves understood, and the other attendees at the fair also acted as interpreters when they witnessed a communication difficulty. This made me feel very good because it reminded me that there are still many good people in the world.

By the time we finished the circuit, we had two jars of pickles, one jar of sunflower seed candy, and another pickle from a different stall; but we also had our energy recharged from having spent a different, fun, interesting, and delicious time. Because we didn't just buy products, we had a whole experience, we bought handcrafted products that carry a little bit of the heart of those who make them, and we contributed our little bit so they don't give up on their journey.
