Guarapo, the juice of sugar cane
Friends of @Amazingdrinks, I return to this wonderful community to talk to you about an element that identifies us Cubans, as part of the Caribbean culture: sugar cane. I passed by a fruit juicer where they sell guarapo and I wanted to share with you about this delicious drink and some details about sugar cane and many of the products that are obtained from this plant.
I will never be able to capture in a post everything that happens around the cultivation of cane and the obtaining of sugar and derivatives, but I will bring you closer to the fascinating world of the grass because it has been the subject of my sociocultural studies, attracted by the scenes that I saw as a child in the small country town where I was born.
Amigos de @Amazingdrinks vuelvo a esta maravillosa comunidad para hablarles de un elemento que nos identifica a los cubanos, como parte de la cultura caribeña: la caña de azúcar. Pasé por una juguera de ftutas, donde venden guarapo y quise compartirle sobre esta deliciosa bebida y algunos detalles alrededor de la caña de azucar y muchos de los productos que se obtienen de esta planta.
Nunca podré atrapar en un post todo lo que acontece alrededor del cultivo de la caña y la obtención de azúcar y derivados pero los acercaré al fascinante mundo de la graminia porque ha sido tema de mis estudios socioculturales, atraida por las escenas que vi siendo niña en la pequeña ciudad de campo donde nací.

The güarapo, the finest sugar cane, is extracted with sugar mills manually or in an industrial process. >Cane is a fruit, queen of the aliñao, an endogenous drink from eastern Cuba, which is achieved by putting fruits in syrup and alcohol for several months. Cane is also the reason for painters, poets and singers.

Since the 19th century, Víctor Patricio Landaluze, an emigre from Spain, included scenes of the Cuban sugarcane fields in his paintings. The machete, the hat and the water jug became symbols of these processes.

With the guarapo reduced to the fire, the raspadura is achieved, an extra-sweet bar with a delicious flavor. There is also alcohol and cane melao immortalized by the Cuban singer Celia Cruz, who spent most of her life in exile in the United States without stopping singing about her beautiful homeland and those details of Cuba.
