The Fablok 6D (factory designation) is a diesel shunting locomotive manufactured at the Fablok plant in Chrzanów from 1963 to 1992. A total of 1,822 units of this type were produced. In the PKP (Polish State Railways) system, it is designated SM42 (Diesel, Shunting; the 41–49 range is reserved for shunting locomotives with electric transmission and multiple control).
In its original version, the locomotive had a 588 kW (800 KM) engine and a maximum speed of 90 km/h; on flat track, it could haul trains weighing 1,000–1,500 metric tons at a speed of 40–50 km/h
