A Spontaneous Sunday Escape: Misty Morning on the Perehod Trail/Spontaniczny niedzielny wypad: Mglisty poranek na ścieżce Perehod
Every photographer knows that the best stories are written by the early morning light. When the weekend comes, there is nothing better than escaping the daily routine for a spontaneous photographic journey. This Sunday morning took me to one of the most mysterious and atmospheric locations in eastern Poland. The alarm went off long before dawn, and as I looked outside, a thick, white blanket of fog covered everything. I knew right away that it was going to be a perfect day for landscape photography, an ideal morning to immerse myself in raw nature.
Ta niedziela zabrała mnie w jedno z najbardziej tajemniczych i nastrojowych miejsc we wschodniej Polsce.
The walk began right at the starting point of the trail, near the Pieszowola. This area is known for its incredible moisture levels, especially in the early hours. Standing there as the light began to shift, I noticed how the morning dew had completely transformed the local flora. Following the ordinary dirt roads and grassy paths, I used my reliable Nikon D850 to capture the fresh green leaves of the small trees along the way. They were heavily decorated with millions of micro-droplets and wrapped in delicate, almost invisible spiderwebs, showing the raw freshness of the day.
Miejsce to słynie z niesamowitej wilgotności, szczególnie we wczesnych godzinach.
As I focused more on the tiny details around me, I decided to switch lenses to capture the true essence of this damp morning. I mounted the Tokina 100mm Macro lens onto my Nikon D850 to photograph a fascinating spiderweb stretched between the plants. Covered in heavy morning dew, it looked like a delicate necklace made of glass beads, perfectly catching the faint light. The dedicated macro lens allowed me to isolate these fragile structures with incredible sharpness, separating them beautifully from the dark, moody background. It is these short-lived micro-landscapes that often leave the deepest impression.
My destination was the Polesie National Park, a unique region famous for its pristine wetlands and dense forests. Specifically, I headed onto the Perehod educational trail. Unlike many typical tourist routes, this trail leads you along natural forest and field paths, making the experience feel much closer to wild, undisturbed nature. Walking down these dirt roads in the early hours feels like entering a different realm. The fog was so dense that it completely altered my perception of distance and scale, turning familiar landscape elements into faint, ghostly silhouettes.
Moim celem był Poleski Park Narodowy, unikalny region słynący z dziewiczych terenów podmokłych i gęstych lasów. Skierowałem się na ścieżkę przyrodniczo-dydaktyczną Perehod. W przeciwieństwie do wielu typowo turystycznych szlaków, ta ścieżka prowadzi naturalnymi, leśnymi i polnymi drogami, dzięki czemu obcowanie z dziką przyrodą jest tu znacznie pełniejsze. Spacer tymi traktami we wczesnych godzinach przypomina wejście do innego wymiaru.
As the sun began to rise higher over the wetlands, it had to fight its way through the heavy, moisture-laden air. This struggle between the sunlight and the mist created a beautifully soft, diffused illumination. My heavy camera was resting for a moment, so I pulled out my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL to quickly capture this minimalist view of the tall grasses cutting through the glowing, pale sun. The phone's sensor did an incredible job rendering the delicate gradients and the pastel color palette of the morning, proving that the best camera is the one you have ready in your hand.
While the grand landscape views were breathtaking, the misty weather naturally pushed me to look back through my Nikon's viewfinder at the smaller details along the path. When visibility is limited, the background gets naturally separated from the foreground, creating a beautiful, organic bokeh effect. I focused my lens on the delicate leaves of a tree growing right next to the trail. Even late in the season, small patches of color managed to break through the overwhelming grayness of the morning, providing a perfect focal point and adding a layer of depth to the surroundings.
Before reaching the main observation point, I took another shot with my Nikon D850. This horizontal composition captured the tall blades of grass reaching towards the morning light. The fog was slowly starting to lift, but the air remained incredibly thick and atmospheric. This post does not cover the entire trail; instead, it is a visual diary of just the first stage of my walk, capturing the changing conditions from the very beginning up to the first major stop.
Przed dotarciem do głównego punktu obserwacyjnego zrobiłem jeszcze jedno ujęcie Nikonem D850.
To conclude this part of the journey, I climbed the first of the two observation towers located along the route. These towers are perfectly placed to allow visitors to observe the entire expanse of the ponds. From this elevated perspective, the sun was already high up, shining brightly through the fading morning mist. I used my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL to snap this wide-angle panorama. It beautifully captured the vast field of mist-covered reeds extending to the horizon, with the branches of a lakeside bush framing the shot. It was the ideal way to wrap up a beautiful, spontaneous Sunday morning session in the field.
I tried using artificial ‘intelligence’ to write this text. The result is that it took me nearly an hour to edit and correct the mistakes, and I still had to write 80 per cent of the text myself. If there are still any mistakes somewhere, I apologise and will correct them if you spot anything. Unfortunately, this illness with a high temperature is taking its toll
