My book Vete a jugar con los machos is now available on Amazon. The first of my titles with Editorial Primigenios , MIAMI. This book is a journey to my childhood in a rural neighborhood called El Jíbaro. This book is a painful journey to the Cuban Special Period, as seen from a child. This book is a tribute to my neighborhood, to my family, to the child I was. And it is also the journey that that child made to the city to become an artist a few years later. This book, in verse, is a sincere part of my life.

Questions that are not asked, answers that are not given (1989).

No one knows the history of the barrio, none of the jíbaros think about why a comarca is named after a wild dog, nor the cause of why a guizazo hangs from our buttocks; no one wonders who put that cross on the first buttock of a jíbaro.

Nobody cares about the howling of the other dogs, in the black silence of the afternoon, only the herding of oxen since dawn and the watering of the tobacco furrows.

Released (1990)

When I was born without sun, my mother said: It's been a year since they knocked down the wall; your diapers are going to be washed with wild seeds.

Look at the sores you're going to make on my knuckles, look at the sores I'm going to make on your stomach from so much green banana puree, look at the sores you're going to make on my fingertips from so much darning your sheets.
from so much darning your gauze sheets
.

IMG-20230221-WA0046.jpg

Look at the wounds that you have to make in my eyes, for bringing you to this island abandoned by the Russians, look at the wounds of my conscience; oh, great generous one of divine creation, look at the wounds that you have to make in my soul.

A rafter could save us from this period, but look at the sores, the aneurysms, the ulcers, the stains, look at the stains, son, look at the stains.

IMG-20230221-WA0048.jpg

You bring me the crisis doubly, what I show you now in this day without sun, is a yoke, an island, a weight for your neck; I have nothing else, son, but a yoke without a star and this yoke of all our ancestors stuck to your buttock.

Tell me if you want me to take away your light now and send you to God to sleep on clouds or stay with the yoke on the back of your neck and let the devil take you.

Give me the yoke and also the guizazo, I told him, pricking both of them, I must find the star one day.

Introductory remarks by Yoandy Cabrera.

Iran Capote: language put in abyss. What best defines the writing of Iran Capote Fuente is his pathos, a kind of daimon turned into language that crosses with the same intensity his theater, his narrative and his poetry. In everything he has written so far, this author combines spontaneity, fury, and passion. His style is born from the very breath of the sentence.

In his verses I find a confessional voice of furious poetic sincerity, which has nothing to do, of course, with what is ordinarily understood as "telling the truth". The truth of poetry is the same as the truth of theater. It is language placed in abyss, the constant pushing of "the real" towards its many possible resonances. The work of Capote Fuente attests to all of this.

IMG-20230221-WA0044.jpg

The poet, born during the same year of the fall of the Berlin Wall, explores the humble life in the Cuban countryside with a critical and involved eye. He is part of that environment while at the same time he takes an analytical distance from certain political and patriarchal symbols that he questions and puts in crisis. To do so, he also plays with national references ranging from José Martí to Virgilio Piñera.

In her poem "Nineteen hundred and ninety-nine" she parodies Martí's "Yugo y estrella" to make the maternal voice a complaint about the deprivations and needs suffered on the island in the nineties. To that end, she fuses Martí's nineteenth-century style with the colloquial language of a Cuban housewife at the end of the twentieth century.

IMG-20230221-WA0045.jpg

In the midst of a peasant family environment, during the rural childhood of the lyrical subject, he is confronted with concepts and symbols such as "God", "revolution" and the sickle. From his young age, he destabilizes these definitions, while his personality opens up, without reaching the age of ten, because of his difference and because of his marginalization. Iran Capote Fuente thus presents the peasant paideia of many Cuban children of his generation, the Bildungsroman of post-Soviet Cuba that moves between insular scarcity and the irruption of the technological revolution.
