Please show us a human in Alliance space that does regular yoga to handle severe anxiety. -- Anon Guest
Human Juel was in the midst of their Pretzeling. Twisting her body around in seemingly awkward combinations and breathing in a slow and deliberate manner. Companion Mitr was still trying to comprehend the exercise.
The mat was necessary to protect her body from the harder flooring. That was clear. As to the why of turning the body into knots, it had to be a Human thing. Humans had a great many things that were exclusive to humanity. This simply had to be one not previously known to the Alliance.
Mitr approached when the Human was lying down in a very specific way. "May I interrupt?" They waited for a nod. "What is the purpose of this exercise?"
"It is exercise," said Juel in a deliberately calm tone. "I do this every day to control anxiety. It helps me stay grounded - aware of what's true and real. That, and playing Most Likely Circumstance."
"I am not familiar with that game."
"It's a mind game for people who play mind games on themselves. I get worked up about upcoming events, so I imagine the best case scenario, the worst case scenario, and then the most likely scenario. Which is in the middle. De-stressing when I'm pre-stressing is a priority of mine."
"Ah," said Mitr. "This explains the presence of the big pack."
"Yep. Better to look daft than be daft. The good news is that I'm whittling the contents to things with multiple purposes. The bad news is that multi-purpose objects are shiny and I might be getting a collection."
"You Humans and your obsessions." A moment's thought as Juel bent herself around into a different position. "Can anyone do this?"
"I won't say no to company, but we should probably check with medical just to see if you can. Then make sure that you should."
Wise words. Humans with anxiety were the best at being Ships' Humans.
