Nations, societies, communities, families, marriages, jobs, relationships - these things are all means to an end. And the end is your happiness. You can have genuine, durable happiness only when your own identity is preserved. How can any institution be more important than yourself in your considerations?
By bending yourself to fit the institutions, you turn things inside out. The institutions must be created and utilized as they serve you - not vice versa.
