A neighbor came by early today for important information we needed. He would normally ask for the husband first, but this time, he didn't and chatted with me by the porch.

After he left, I went out to the yard for my regular dose of vitamin D. The sun was already up, peeking through the gap between the trees up the hill. Completely blue sky, no patches of clouds, which may mean the day could get extremely hot, especially as the dry spell sets in. It's been a week since the last rain. It made me wonder if the Super El Ni帽o cycle is already starting.

The thought reminded me of a trending clip about the president's suggestion (advice) to buy buckets and collect rainwater in preparation for the impact of the phenomenon.馃榿

Anyway, the heat actually stings even at 8 am; I had to cover my head with my palm while waltzing up the driveway (maybe because my hair is too short).

Seeing my own shadow started a little hunt, not for big things but tiny ones right beside my feet. The rain did leave greens down there :)

And whoa, a wee green creature seems to be enjoying the sunshine while clinging to the tiny weed.

Moving on, a fallen crowfoot grass stem and flower head, its little spikes lined with small and scaly grains, cast an interesting shadow on the concrete ground.

While at it, a fast-moving creature came into view, so I quickly took a few pictures before it disappeared. Pardon me for the poor shots.

This last one is of a rosemary branch I picked up, intending to hang by the doorway to repel mosquitoes from entering the mudroom.

But first, I checked out the grape plant and am chuffed that it is recovering nicely after the foliage rotted and fell off during the monsoon.

The new leaves are still bathed in morning dew drops as the sunrays have yet to reach them.

Well, there goes my little hunt this morning, my contribution to the fun SMASh initiative, although I'm not entering the contest for now馃槉 Cheers to a fantastic day!
