A girl at a farm received a seed from her parents from abroad and was asked to grow it into a full grown plant before they return back home. Reluctantly, she agreed because there wasn't anything else that amuses her. She tossed it in a pot filled with soil from her backyard. She watered it and placed it by the window while making sure there was enough sunlight. As the drew she watered once again and went to bed.
By morning, she woke up and noticed the seed had germinated into a sprout so green that it looked like a bright green bulb beside with the sun's morning rays. It was a spectacle worth amusing. Then she wondered what would this little one would turn out to be. Then grew that curiosity that was bounded to unrest and responsibility with that thought.
From that moment onwards, every day she would water the sprout trice a day daily. But she felt that the plant needs more nutrition and more caring. Thinking of all the possibilities that would deteriorate her progress, she decided to ask for assistance from her neighbor beside her house. The Lady next door was fond of growing plants of different shapes and sizes and a variant type of colors. The Lady also added before her advice,"A sampling that small is but a beautiful. Make sure you cherish it as your own". Our little girl listened to every word spoken by a veteran and rushed back to her plant.
By the next day, she prepared all necessities to grow her pretty little plant. She replaced the small pot with a bigger pot making room for the roots to spread. Added a little fertilizer and left it by another window where the sun lights the most during the day and provides shade during the evening.
A week later, the bud blossomed into a Golden cup with a Floral Scent of a whole field of its own kind. In few minutes the scent spread to all corners of the room. "It was really worth the wait." was what she believed.
Just then the old lady appeared from her home and greeted the girl.
The lady said to the girl, "Your flower is beautiful. It's like a star on your window."
The girl smiled with gratitude and the lady asked, "Growing a plant are like children that one must look after. You keep caring for their needs day in and out as we constantly worry if we did enough for a day. Then one day they open up to us and together we enjoy each others time together. I'm glad you found yours. So now you've become a woman."
NOW A QUESTION FOR YOU ALL
Do you believe that children open up to us when we give them our time?
To nurture them and to help them grow. We ought to teach them what we know personally. If they were to learn themselves, wouldn't they grow differently or would it be considered Child Negligence?
If it does grow, it would become like a wildflower, so small and less likely to stand out. But if handled by our hands, we might just nurture them better.
It might feel like a spoon feeding to me but, think about it. Who are they suppose to look up to if not you?
