I set out to cleanse the Morite Shrine to clear the surrounding fog. Along the way, I defeated a Lamentation using my bow and fire elemental weave. After finding the shrine unguarded and cleansing it, I defeated nearby demons, rescued trapped spirits, and replenished my arrows at a local shop.
I planned to cleanse the Morite Shrine in order to purge the thick, suffocating fog that enveloped the surrounding district. As I drew closer to my destination, I navigated through the quiet streets and approached a large entry door.
Mysterious text was painted along the path ahead. The symbols seemed to float suspended in the air upon my initial approach, only to suddenly freeze and drop still as I stepped nearer.
This location marked the first torii gate along the traditional path toward the shrine. Expecting to encounter additional gates and hostile forces farther along the trail, I paused to activate photo mode, using the camera to carefully survey the misty environment ahead.
Through the camera lens, I spotted a Lamentation waiting directly in my line of sight. Knowing she blocked the only viable path forward, I prepared for combat and readied my fire elemental weave while simultaneously switching to my bow.
Before I could draw an arrow and fire a shot, she caught sight of me and immediately launched a fiery projectile in my direction. Luckily, the fireball missed me completely and struck the ground nearby.
Taking advantage of her missed attack, I began shooting arrows at her in rapid succession. The hits caused her movement to slow significantly, but she managed to push through the assault and close the distance between us.
As soon as she got within range, I unleashed my fire elemental weave directly at her. The burst of heat instantly destroyed her, clearing the side passage so I could continue onward.
I made my way ahead to reach the shrine itself. To my surprise, the grounds were completely deserted, and no other demons waited to challenge me. This absence of resistance felt abnormal, as shrines are almost always guarded by heavy enemy forces.
I approached the shrine directly and cleansed it. My efforts cleared the localized fog and rewarded me with a special bracelet bead, which promised to be useful for future enhancements.
With the shrine cleansed, the immediate territory opened up, allowing for safer exploration. Scanning the perimeter, I noticed a few stray demons patrolling the nearby area and decided to take them down before moving on.
A Rain Walker spotted me from a distance and began to approach. Being one of the weakest enemies in the area, he posed very little threat and dealt minimal damage before I brought him down completely.
Further down the path, I discovered a paper doll demon positioned near a group of floating spirits. She seemed less like a guard and more like she was simply staring at them in a trance.
Taking advantage of her distraction, I crept up quietly from behind, performed a stealth attack to eliminate her silently, and then absorbed the stray spirits into my katashiro.
Spotting a nearby shop, I stopped in to purchase a full supply of arrows to replace what I spent during the exploration.
