🥇 1st place:
In this painting, the artist beautifully captures a bold, pop-art style with an intriguing sci-fi twist, effectively blending a limited but striking palette of oil pastels. The deliberate choice of an alien-like green for the skin tones provides a brilliant contrast against the vivid red background, while the cream-colored highlights bring a nice dimension to the face. The sky-blue sunglasses and matching blouse serve as fantastic focal points that instantly draw the eye, perfectly framed by the starkness of the black hair. While the artist humbly mentions room for improvement in facial proportions, the overall composition successfully balances a chic, stylized fashion vibe with a playful aesthetic, making it an incredibly charming and memorable piece of art.

The artist beautifully captures an incredibly endearing and tender dynamic between two fluffy fledgling siblings huddled together on a branch. The patient layering of muted watercolor washes builds a wonderfully soft, atmospheric background that lets the charming, rounded forms of the birds take center stage. The subsequent application of colored pencils expertly adds texture to their downy feathers, while the bold addition of black ink or dark pigment gives much-needed depth and life to their wide, glassy eyes, the shadows, and the gnarled texture of the perch. Finally, the delicate use of the white acrylic marker for highlights perfectly catches the light, giving the entire 1.5-hour mixed-media piece a vibrant yet gentle finish that feels wonderfully warm, sweet, and comforting.
The artist beautifully captures an atmospheric and serene night scene, masterfully utilizing a cool-toned watercolor palette to create a sense of nocturnal magic. The glowing full moon acts as a captivating focal point, brilliantly enhanced by the concentric, circular brushwork in the deep blue and purple night sky which creates a luminous halo effect. The bold, dark structure of the twisting tree branches provides an excellent graphic contrast to the delicate, stippled texture of the blossoms framing the piece.
