Chocolate crinkles have been my favorite munchy since I was a kid. We have a lot of bakeries nearby and each bakery has crinkles being sold so it was pretty easily accessible for me. I don't bake myself and I have never baked since nobody in our family does that lol so I just buy what others make and appreciate them.
The usual ones from the bakery have this crunchy texture, similar to chocolate chip cookies. Since it's not the top-famous Starbucks-like bakery, it's not that special.
I usually go to some cafes and I usually just find chocolate chip cookies or cakes in them and crinkles were pretty unusual. Even at the malls, I don't find them often really... so there's nothing for me to compare how it tastes like when it's done in a special way and not the regular ones from the bakeries (which probably was baked the other day so you mostly eat a two-day old crinkles or something lol).
A new discovery
It was til last year when I discovered this cafe and I noticed their crinkles in a tiny jar, with some matcha and chocolate cookies beside.
Though I didn't ask, I could tell it was homemade and not mass produced. I could see through the glass that it's chewy and that it's something that I'll probably enjoy. XD
It was 3 pieces for 40 php, not bad for the price. I ordered them. They were tiny, just enough for you to have 2 bites. and when I tasted them, it was so soft, chewy and tasty. A wave of thought suddenly came to me wondering where it has been all my life.
You can tell that I became a regular customer of the cafe since then.
Dreams
I did not just write this cause I remembered it randomly. I literally just woke up earlier and had a dream that I was eating chocolate crinkles somewhere that looked like our new house. I had crinkle-dreams from time to time and it's so weird cos I don't even crave it that much. I don't think about it whole day or whatever then suddenly it appears in my dreams. The human brain is weird.
Now I had to rely on some delivery services and see if someone is selling crinkles during the quarantine. Or any sweets would be fine honestly.
