One of the reasons I got my leather folio is to have all my journals and planners in one place so I am more motivated to use them instead of looking for them everywhere. I got 2 thick planners inside the folio so ideally the rest should be really thin kraft notebooks so the folio isn't as bulky. I got A5 sketchbooks but they won't fit in the folio since they are quite thick.
I found this notebook in a store that isn't dotted or ruled so I decided to make it my sketchbook inside the folio. It's very thin so it's perfect for it.
The purpose for this sketchbook is to sketch everyday AND to do very quick gesture drawings. As I said in my previous post, I have been perfectionist with my sketchbooks and that doesn't allow me to sketch and have fun anymore. This will break that because having an "ugly" sketchbook will allow me to sketches without breaking the momentum or habit of drawing.
This notebook is so thin (80 gsm) that the lines will bleed through the next page so I'm just using pencils for this. In this spread, I was just drawing anything that catches my eyes on Pinterest. The lips are shading practice using different shades of pencils and the others are just drawings focused on the shapes and gestures. I also didn't use eraser for this for the purpose of limiting myself and forcing myself to commit to the lines.
As I'm doing this consistently, I become more confident in my lines and I don't even draw intial shapes anymore. I just draw directly and my eyes and hands coordinate better lol.
I really like this method of sketching because you finish quick and move on to another one. I can see this sketchbook being filled fast. :D
