Canvas made by akoani
About two weeks ago, I commissioned my colleague some canvases that I will be using for an international exhibition as well as some personal paintings that I will be making. Since I suck at carpentry and I really don't wanna spend time mounting the canvas to the stretcher, I just decided to hire someone else to do it lol.
I'm glad he was able to immediately buy materials and make the canvas. After about two weeks, all of them were delivered to me. The quality were really great. So neat!!
There were 15 canvas all in all, even though I just need 2 canvases for an exhibit lol. This will be fun with just painting personal works!
Since I ordered unprimed canvases, I had to prime them myself. It's also cos I ordered Liquitex Gesso that I will be using. It was also my choice to do it tho, priming is kinda therapeutic.
For those who don't know, priming a canvas is the very first step before painting. It's to ensure you will have some kind of "base", so when you paint, you will have a "tooth" and all of the paint you will be using will be attached on that primer and will just glide across the surface. If there's no primer, all of your paint will be absorbed by the canvas (cloth) and it won't be pleasing to paint on... Aside from the fact that your expensive paint will be wasted, it's really just hard to paint when one stroke of the brush, the paint will go to the back of the cloth.
And that's my cat being nosy and just watched me priming.
Here are also the paint and brushes that I will be using soon. The one to the left (the blue one) is her bed. Cats are weird, you buy them bed but sometimes they don't use it. Right now she's sleeping on top of that trolley (right).
Can't wait to start painting... but I need to make my studies first! XD
