Your finger prints faintly adorn my neck in grey-green and lavender like jewels. A “choker.” I snicker to myself for coming up with that all on my own. I bend over to wash the makeup off my face. Coconut oil melts mascara. I blink thickly through raccoon eyes at my reflection. She dips into uncanny valley. Her eyes are wide and her mouth stretches to lip synch Whitney Houston’s “I wanna dance with somebody” coming through my broken phone speakers. She twirls around and around under a spotlight and points to me with a grin as the song ends. A crowd in the mirror background cheers and throws white roses. I blow the candles out because I don’t wanna look at her anymore.
