Wednesday Walk - Accompanying A Friend in Her Hospital Run
Today's #wednesdaywalk is a bit unusual as it was me waiting for a friend who went for a procedure in the hospital.
So my friend needed to go for a procedure called Bilateral C2 RF. It should be a form of pain treatment by the neurosurgeon. Since it is considered a day surgery, it was expected to be few hours. She said the doctor asked for a family member or friend to standby outside in the waiting area so I said okay to that. I fetched her to the Specialist Hospital in the General Hospital of Kuala Lumpur and we reached at 810am. Upon registration and also taking her blood pressure, we were just waiting to be called.
So I had a few things to do during the wait. I talked with my friend a while and then she was called to go in at around 10am. Then I went on with blogging on Hive which I managed to draft some posts in the hours of waiting. As I looked up, I realized the view here at 8th floor is magnificent. It has the cityscape view.
The notice on the window says, "Not allowed to open the window".
Haha I was trying to just find fun in the waiting and was happy to see our significant Twin Towers and KL Tower. Then I killed some time walking around the corridor.
Acrually the floor did look deserted a bit and then I thought of some horror shows you know in a hospital corridor. Just then, the lights blinked... but nothing happened. 2 hours have passed and I could see lesser people waiting. Some of their family members even dozed off. Yes their day procedure or for some it is day surgery was not an easy process.
The waiting area was getting colder and colder and I was feeling it more and more as lunch hour approached. I was contemplating if I should go eat my lunch but my friend'spersonal belongings such as phones were witth me so I was afraif she could not get to me. After waiting for another 30 minutes which had already crossed over 1pm, I decided I needed to go down to get the sun's warmth as it was freezing cold!!!
Off I went to the little square after I crossed the road. There were a few shops here and there were shaded eating areas too. I should see a little fountain in the middle and some junior doctors were happily laughing too among their peers.
I found a little corner for myself after buying some spaghetti bolognese, some fried snacks and fruits. Look who was keeping me company. Never have I been so glad to be under the sun.
After lunch, I walked back to the Specialist Hospital Building again.
This means Specialist and Day Treatment Complex.
Here is the Pharmacy Dispensary.
There is a mini mart at the ground floor.
This is the radiology department for ultrasound, X-ray and all.
I then went back up because I was afraid my friend might be looking for me after she is done.
This is the chart on the difference of fees when we use the service of our general hospital.
I was not allowed to take photos or videos beyond this area so I respect the rules. I waited for my friend to be conscious and not feel giddy anymore before we left the hospital. By then, it was already 330pm. She was the last patient left.
So this is roughly how our public hospital looks like in Malaysia in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. I used to frequent here when my youngest needed to do his hospital runs when he was having hypothyroidism. It is said that the most experts serve here in this hospital and they even renovated and refurbished many of their buildings from time to time. This should be the most affordable hospital for those who cannot afford private hospitals yet there is still some charges imposed which sometimes I also wonder how those less affordable can pay up as some amounts for day surgery is not small too.
