When I went home to Kuching, Sarawak, there are some childhood places that I must go to reminisce some taste from old. There are also some people I will meet up even though we may not stay in contact all the time. I guess this is what we call sentiment.

Sunny Hill Ice-cream

This is a very popular ice-cream shop among us Kuchingites. Although we cannot really pinpoint what is the uniqueness that draws us to it, having it just make the day better. I have brought my family and friends from the West Malaysia to try it yet they cannot find anything special about it. Still, we stand proud of this place hahah.

We are always greeted by a jam and a human queue when we visit this place.

It is just basic Sundae ice cream but they churn out different flavours everyday. My sister can remember which day is for which flavour so when I know it is chocolate day, here I came!

I bought a tub of the chocolate ice-cream for my boys and I. We slowly keep it in the freezer and savour it. It is actually very creamy and smooth and affordable at just RM5.50.

There are other things on the menu too actually but I keep ordering this over and over again.

The workers are always working hard to meet our requests and purchases. Some customers may choose to sit and eat there. It is always a pleasant bonus on a hot day!

Come by if you are in Kuching.
Location: Jln Bukit Cahaya, Sunny Hill Garden, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak
*Opening hours: 8am to 9pm. Closed on Saturdays

Beanz Cafe

This is a new cafe open in Kuching, I guess. I mean I have no knowledge of it before this. It was a Sunday afternoon, my last day before flying back to Kuala Lumpur and I decided to let my children and husband rest in, while I went to meet my secondary school friend. She was my first friend I got close with in secondary school in Form 1. We have become mothers and busy with work and all, but when we catch up, I know we have like-mindedness.

Location: Ground floor, Lot 21519, No S15, Block 16, KCLD, Emporium, Jalan Tun Jugah, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak

*Opening hours: 10am to 11pm everyday

This place has a nice hue of blue and brown. Nothing too fancy but ai felt comfortable here.

We ordered a croffle to share and started chatting away.

We chatted about the demands of life and how things have changed. Sometimes we sighed at things, sometimes we encourage each other with hope. I broke my news of pregnancy to her too and shared how much courage to muster up to cross over to having 3 children because sometimes we feel 2 is the "right" amount we can handle. She has 2 children herself too.

Then we ordered this peach oolong tea that was extra refreshing.

I guess that is how old friends are. We picked up from where we left off and time seemed to be still and everything felt the same. Except that when we were young, we dreamt of all the possibilities and now we are living in them.
