After sending my son to primary school for his first day of school, the husband and I wanted to find a place to wat breakfast and perhaps to also process some feelings after sending my son into a "warzone" (because we sent him into a Chinese school where he may not understand what is going on at first since we only speak English at home).
On our way out in the car, we saw a friend's car drove by and I know my friend was also dropping off 2 of her children who were anxious for school reopening so let's have breakfast together then.
Not many shops were opened at 730am so when I saw the doors for this shop called Jia Kopitiam opened, I went down to ask if they receive customers since their official opening time is 8am. Yes they do, yay!
Jia 家means home in Chinese so I guess they wanted to create the feeling of homecooked food perhaps?
Parked the car and walked over. There were no customers at all at this hour.
We got to scan this QR code to get their menu online and then place order with it too. I like this hassle-free way.
My friend's kaya butter toast and soft boiled egg. SHE SAID IT IS ONE OF THE BEST SHE HAS TASTED AND SAID IT WAS VERY GOOD. Wow!
My hot honey lemon. This is always a hot drink I would like in the morning if I eat out as I don't drink coffee.
My dry curry mee. I have tasted better and tastier version of it so this didn't really impress me. But it is not bad as it is not easy to find a breakfast place in the morning especially at 720am!
The husband ordered a curry laksa. He too commented it wasn't great but it was okay.
The crowd started to come in at 8am.
After talking about how to help our children to cope with the local schooling system and be conformed by it, I packed some food for my mum-in-law and paid the bill. It was rather cheap though, RM35 or rather USD8.30 for 3 of us.
I think I will be back to try the other food as it is rather a comfortable place to dine in.
