Hello there! Today as I scrolled through some photos on my phone, I feel like I want to just clear my phone storage a bit but the photos of my delicious food has got to be shared somewhere, so that's it, they are coming on Hive!
I sometimes took photos of just the food and not of the eatery or the process of cooking it. So I thought a compilation of them may be a good idea!
Strawberry Cheesecake
The husband brought this back from the place he works one day. Sometimes the shop lets him take food back, if they are not able to sell some of that. We have been receiving some cakes and croissants. I totally love the taste of this! It is aa bit tangy yet not too sweet. The three different layers could be strawberry layer, cheese layer and I could not figure out the last layer. Super good and I silently wish he can take back this again!
Corn Longan Shaved Ice
I went out with the husband some day for dinner and I came across rhis on the menu in a Sarawak food shop called SRK Noodle House. At an impulse, I ordered it because I ate something similar to this back home in Kuching, Sarawak. Well, it did not taste like what I remembered. This is made of gula apong or a palm sugar but it tasted a bit like Gula Melaka. But the Longan and corn was still nice. The one I remembered is smoother and lighter in taste though.
Pork Liver and Innards in Red Wine Soup
I suddenly felt like eating this because it is more rare to be found here in Peninsular Malaysia. It is also a food I find it easily back in Kuching and Sarikei, my place of birth. The Foo Chows like to cook food in fermented red yeast and red wine. This dish from this shop I went to gave quite a generous amount of pork intestines and liver. They gave a little pot of red wine for us to add to our liking. The soup was phemonenal, I could not stop drinking it. Love this!
Beef Fried Rice
I cooked this the other day because I wanted to replicate a fried rice I used to order from a Chinese Muslim shop. My previous fried rice had been failing but thank God this turned out good. I actually liked the taste but it is short of something. Later I figured out it is 孜然, cumin powder, an ingredient used a lot in China chinese cooking that will enhance the flavour of the dishes.
BaK Zang or Meat Dumplings
Few days ago it was the Bak Zang festival which is celebrated by the Chinese culture. In an oldern story or fable, it is to remember a person called 屈原 who sacrificed himself for a greater good. People wrapped dumplings to avoid the fishes from eating his flesh.
Dumplings are made of glutinous rice hence I don't fancy them much. It often makes me experince indigeston. For the sake of this festival, I did go to the shop and bought some dumplings. I ate the one that has no filling in it and dipped it with some sugar. That is another way of eating the other type of dumpling. Usually people go for the salted one with lots of meat and sometimes salted egg yolk in it.
Crepe Sliced Cakes
I bought this last month for some birthday celebrattions for the father-in-law and sister-in-law. It is my first time buying from this shop through Grabfood. Surprisingly they were really nice and there was even a note there saying that they promote lesser sweetness. I agreed with their policy! I got them some chocolate, oreo, taro and chocolate banana flavoured ones. Wow they were yummy!
My Beauty and Cooling Tea in my Beauty Pot
In recent months, I am learning to regulate my body better with some red dates, gojiberries and also some flowerr tea. I fall in love wirh rose and chrysanthemum flower tea as I love the fragrance. Usually I do drink these to warm my womb when I have my monthly cycle. When I am not having it, I added in a "Lo Han Kor" which is suppsoed to cool the body down in our extremely hot weather. This beauty pot has made it so easy and convenient for me because it has preset settings and I need not watch over it.
Stir Fried Fettucine with Seafood Balls
I went to my tuition yesterday and my students requested to have their breakfast during class. Then their maid served me with a plate of it too. It was super super good and delicious. I love that it has a lot of black pepper in it and I loved the seafood balls!
