And on this #beersaturday I am sharing a blonde ale brewed by Hardywood Brewery in Richmond, Virginia.
The name "Singel" intrigued me a bit, as well as the description "Abbey Style". So like any curious monkey I did a little search on the old interweb.
Turns out that "singel" is a low alcohol beer that the monks keep in the abbey so they can drink all day and not get too drunk. Suddenly a monk's life does not seem that bad. Drink all day, sleep all night and pray that it all works out in the end.
Wait that sounds like my life now so need for the silly robes.
BEER NAME: Singel
STYLE: Belgian Blonde Ale
BREWER: Hardywood Craft Brewery, Richmond Virginia
ABV: 6.5% ???? See what happens when the monks are not in charge!
APPEARANCE: gold color, pours with foamy head, slightly cloudy
AROMA: hops
TASTE: spicy hops
MOUTHFEEL: light body, light carbonation, and the hops linger with dry finish
This was a fun beer! And despite its name, packs a bit of a kick with 6.5% ABV.
