The "Imperial" refers to the Royal Court of the Empire of all the Russias as this particular brew was the favorite beer of the Court. And thus the 
On this particular occasion, and with this particular brew, Grigori is probably correct. I mean the dang thing poured like molasses in January. For added pleasure the brewer utilized an aged bourbon barrel.

BEER NAME: The Event Horizon
STYLE: Imperial Stout
ABV: 12.9% (Yikes!!!!!!!!)
BREWER: Olde Hickory Brewery of Hickory North Carolina
APPEARANCE: black with zero visibilty
AROMA: roasted malts
TASTE: roasted malt and the bourbon pulls through sweet
MOUTHFEEL: full bodied with a bitter finish
I have been tested and tested hard by this Imperial Stout. I think I might need a nap or a bowl of borscht.
