This episode is also known as tutorial town

Here we go again ladies and gentlemen, into the world of Fallout. Last time I finished the tutorial temple thingy and today we’ll finish all of the sidequests in the little village of Arroyo.

This time however there is an abundance of dialogue, so expect more text and fewer pictures.

I’ll also be making small changes here and there to the dialogue as I write it in here, to give some personality of my own to my character and to sped things a little bit more.

When we finished last time I had completed the temple trial and found the pajamas of power. Right now my character has just come out of the Temple while wearing the sacred pajamas of power and a little trinket I’ll show later on.

AfterTemple.png
Ignore the weird plants, they’re just the local wildlife

This is the area we find ourselves in after we exit the temple and next to us is Cameron, the guy that wanted to fight us last time, and to the center of the screen we have some mutant killer plants native to any area with enough plant life in the wasteland.

They can also shoot seeds as if they were bullets, but they usually miss. It’s probably because they don’t have eyes to aim properly.

We can talk to Cameron here and he reacts differently depending in how we completed the last part of the temple. AKA the "fight" against him.

TalkCameron.png

->"Hello, Cameron. Ready for another fight?"

"You have a tongue of purest silver, Chosen One. Your skill with words will open many doors for you."

->"Ha! Good day to you, Cameron."

"And to you as well, Chosen One. May the spirits guide you on your quest."

Since we didn't really fight him, but instead talked him down he references our ability to talk ourselves out of that situation. Alternatively we could have stolen the key for the door from him, or actually fight him and die in the process.

Our first order of business today is to head to the Elder’s house/hut; you’ll remember her as the old lady who told us that our people were starving or something. To the Chosen One, that is the character we control, she is also their mother.

ElderHut.png

She’s also really, really old.

OhGodKillIt.png
OH GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE

Really. REALLY old.

As soon as we leave the temple we're supposed to go here and talk to the Elder, to being our quest in the wasteland.

Are you ready for your quest? she asks.

We could call her out here, ask if she wanted to kill her own child since she just sent them into a temple infested with giant ants and scorpions but then we can’t ask for our allowance, so we’ll be nice.

Plus I really like old people in general.

"Of course"

"Then take this flask. It is from the holy Vault 13. Vic, a trader in Klamath, brought it to us. He may know where the vault is. You may also need some of what they call muhh-nee. Here."

She gives us 150$ and sends us out into the desert with just a spear, great parenting skills here.

We can ask her some questions, like what exactly is the G.E.C.K supposed to be...

"It is a holy artifact - the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. The disks promise it will make our lands green and our village prosperous. It will save us. More, I do not know."

Where is exactly is Vault 13...

"The holy Thirteen? I can not help you. Only the Vault Dweller knew. His tales have the sound of a perilous journey."

The Vault Dweller being the main character of the first Fallout game and the first leader of this village. This gives us a little bit more of insight into what is happening right now:

The elder probably knows about the GECK because of old records or videos that the Vault Dweller had in his possesion while he was building what these people now know as Arroyo. The first people of Arroyo came from the same place the Vault Dweller did, but if that's the case, how did they regress to this level of technology and understanding?

It was probably the isolation or something, but let's keep going on with the game for now okay?.

Finally I ask "Where is Klamath?"

"Klamath is to the east."

Well that's informative, thanks I guess.

While leaving her hut I see an NPC having some problems right in front.

FeargusCrying.png
That's Feargus, he's a little bit of a crybaby

You see your nephew Feargus, crying about something as usual

Further inspection (and by that I mean talking to him and asking "what's wrong" in a kind tone), reveals that the well he's currently standing next to is broken and that makes him cry for some reason.

Me being the kind person I am I decide to let Sara try and fix the well.

MyRepairSkillisLow.png
Using the power of the pajamas Sara magically fixes the well

This is still part of the tutorial section, so it doesn't really matter if my skills are really low; i'll still suceed at doing everything for some reason. There's also a little pop up telling me i've leveled up from this, and i also remember the scorpion venom is still coursing through my veins.

BeepBeepLettuce.png

I decide to pay a little visit to the local drug addict Shaman, Hakunin the High One as we call him, since he has the drugs magical powers required to purge this venom from my blood.

Before you stands Hakunin, the village shaman. He appraises you with his crazy eyes from somewhere in the world only he inhabits...

TheDevilsLettuce.png
This is what happens when you smoke the devil's lettuce kids

He appears to be high af in the middle of a spiritual journey as I arrive.

As soon as he speaks i ask him to heal me, since i myself am starting a spiritual journey of my own with the numbness of the scorpion venom.

When he's done I tell him: "I've come to say goodbye. I'm leaving on my holy quest."

"The Earth sings with the news of a champion upon the land.... Perhaps, before you go, you would bestow a kindness?"

He wants me to do something for him before we go.

"The plants of dark soul have infested my garden again. Many seasons have touched my bones and I am too frail for that fight which is eternal in nature. I ask that you be my champion."

He wants me to get rid of the carnivorous plants that don't let him harvest the lettuce the herbs required to make healing powder.

Since I need the experience, I say yes.

"May the gods bless your efforts, Chosen. May your aura grace my presence when the earth breathes clean again."

He wants me to come back once i'm finished.

Some of you may be asking, why are you being kind with the obviously crazy guy? It's pretty simple: you don't want a crazy guy to make a weird voodoo spell on you while he's high or something, especially this guy, just look at him he reeks of voodoo stuff.

It takes me a while to do this and the plants are actually somewhat difficult to kill, especially if they decide to gang up on you, but since they can't move it's really easy to just get the attention of one of them and kill them one by one.

CleanTheLettuce.png
It occurs to me that since they're plants they must have grown from a seed, right? How did no one ever realize carnivorous plants were growing here?

With my job done, I return to Hakunin for my reward.

ShamanDude.png

I also ask him to heal me again, since those things almost killed me.

After that I talked to some random NPCs and found another little quest.

DoggoBeGone.png

You see your young cousin, Nagor. You don't see his dog, Smoke, anywhere.

"Cousin, am I glad to see you! I need your help."

He explains that his dog went missing on the hunting grounds, for some reason.
Sara, being the dog loving person she is, immediately tuned Nagor out and went running into the hunting grounds to rescue the poor creature.

ILostTheFirstPic.png
There's something behind the trees...

The hunting grounds a filled with mutant Geckos, but despite the fact that they're actively hunted by Sara's people, they don't try to harm her in any way. I guess they know she means peace?

DoggoBeFound.png
How he managed to get lost is a mystery, seriously it's not that far away from home

I easily find Smoke and ask myself why he couldn't really go back on his own, since it's not really that far away and he actually has a clear path from home to this location. My question is answered when Smoke willingly walks into acid of all things, maybe he's just dumb. But he could have probably been scared or something...

Doesn't explain why he jumped into a puddle of acid though...

Nagor thanks me and I'm off to waste some more time instead of doing my very important quest.

In the middle of town there's this guy...

FiteKlub.png

He asks how my quest is going to which I reply: "I haven't even started yet"

He doesn't seem taken aback by my answer and instead teaches a little bit about unarmed combat, something I can appreciate since it's going to be some time before I can get an actual weapon.

After I was done with that I went to the bridge, to leave the village and finally start my adventure...

...And then I spent an hour talking to the bridge guard, Mynoc.

He gave me some advice about the wasteland and its people and told me a little story about a certain someone.

"You must always remember your roots chosen one, where you came from lest you become like... __He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named"

->"You mean the wizard Baldymart?"

He shakes his head slowly and tells me the story of Kaga, the guy who was supposed to be Chosen one before me.

He indulged himself in the ways in which the people of the wasteland lived, and thought himself superior to everyone else in the tribe because of this, he learned from the worst of the wasteland and during his trial he killed a fellow tribesmen with a hidden blade, he was banished from the village and the Elder ordered us to never speak of him again.

"Wait, he did the trials too? You mean he had to blow up a wall and everything? How do we even get the materials to do that. How do we even get the explosives!?"

He never answered that question.

After talking with him and hearing the story of Kaga I was oficially done with Arroyo and had no more sidequests or important people to talk to.

LeavingIndianPeeps.png

This brown thingy here is what marks the end of an area, in this case the end of Arroyo and standing on it will take me to the world map.

ToKlamathBoiiii.png
The world map

With this step we oficially begin the Chosen One's adventure, and the next step is towards Klamath...

And with this i finish this episode, I felt it was longer than it should have been... but anyway, in the next episode we get to Klamath and hopefully get a gun, or money for actual medicine. I hope you guys enjoyed, have a nice day!
