I've been lobster diving in New England for over 35 years and still get a kick out of it. I've had quite a few people ask me about 'how it's done' so I shot a video to give everyone an idea. Visibility is always very low in NE waters - sometimes just a foot or two - but hopefully you'll get the idea. The limited visibility and searching with an flashlight for glimpses of the lobsters hiding in their holes is how you have to do it. And lobsters taken by divers have to be captured by hand - no spearing is allowed. And yes, if you grab wrong it will hurt when the lobster chomps you :)

In one scene you'll see me pull out a lobster with eggs under the tail. You'll then see me put it back. Those can't be taken and must be released -- they are producing the next generation of lobsters!

About 5 minutes. Hard to hold the camera with one hand and grab the lobster with the other, lol.
