Someone was granted poetic licence. A romantic city where the Danube meets and mingles with the Sava. Belgrade translates as the "White City".
Beige is the new white? Or maybe it is my bad for shunning the usual tourist sites and following my lens. Did I enjoy what I saw? damn right I did.
Does the city still cling on to the past, of Yugoslavia?
1934, formerly Theatre Square
Now known as Republic Square. The Balkans have been a place of tension and conflict as recently as the Kosova war of 1998. With the break up of Yugoslavia, separate independent states were formed. We are now in Serbia.
A lot of new construction taking place around the city
But still some lovely brutalist Socialist structures.
The back streets of the city centre
With an oasis of colour.
Street Life
St. Michaels Cathedral, and a tram
Built in the early part of the 19th CE the Serbian Orthodox cathedral is very ornate and photogenic....
....as is this tram
"So that's it, ? You didn't take many snaps"
"Yes I did"
"So where are they"
"Patience my dear friend in my head, patience, there will be a series of uploads of beautiful Belgrade coming soon to the StreetArt community, the place where beauty lives"
