In the last Colorado post, I showed you the insane amount of Canyons on the Rim Rock Drive. This place is located near the city of Grand Junction, in western Colorado. When we were done canyon seeing I started to think that we could literally see Utah. It was only 25 km from us.
Then a great idea came to drive there for no reason, just cross the border, stop for a second and drive back. I also wanted to see the state signs.
Also, who knows when I travel to the USA next time so I can at least say that I went to Utah too, even though I did not do or see there much.
This is a Colorado/Utah border
About 5km drive into Utah I found a place on maps named Harley's Dome View Area. Supposedly it's just some small area to see the surrounding landscapes on a small hill. There were no other places of interest close by so we decided to drive there.
Not everything went as planned so we missed the right turn and ended up in a fully random road where nobody drove on, that seemed to be leading into nowhere. There was no point in driving any further and we stopped for a second.
I snapped these couple of photos. You know, for proof that I was in Utah 馃榾.
There was a... well, a whole lot of absolute nothingness. Huge deserted flat fields and mountains in the far back. Even on the interstate, I saw signs saying that expect nothing for the next 40 or something miles.
We just stood there for a bit and thought that oh cool, we're in Utah, smells the same as Colorado 馃槄. This is where I truly felt I was in the middle of nowhere. We didn't even have a cell service. Having no cell service in the USA is not that uncommon tho, when you drive to a random place without towns or cities, I regularly saw that I have no celluar.
Having stayed there a bit, it was time to leave and drive back to Colorado.

I usually don't say this but it's not worth going to this road we went. Nothing to see there. After all, we didn't go there to really see anything. We just can say that we have been to Utah and that's cool! At some point, I would like to travel there because Utah has many cool places and geological awesomeness to see.
