After several days of driving and traveling through part of Europe, we finally reached the southernmost point of Poland, to the Tatra Mountains. The air felt a lot chillier than we were otherwise used to. If I remember correctly, it was only about 14C out there on our arrival day. The town of Zakopane, where we had planned to stay the next 4 nights, was about 900 m above sea level in altitude.
Right after we arrived at our accommodation. An extremely beautiful weather scenario appeared. Massive heavy rain clouds, a double rainbow and big mountains back there created a very unique photo opportunity at that moment. This is a view out of our window.
I mean, wow!
Having settled in, we wanted to take some steps made, and I found a trail nearby that should have some pretty epic views. About 3 or so kilometers long, it should be good to get back before it got dark outside.
We had a slight problem, though. The weather was pretty shady, and some not-very-peaceful-looking clouds started to roll in while we were on the trail. We decided to stay and survive whatever the weather was preparing to throw at us.
Before the heavy rain set in, the weather was beautiful. Sunny with massive clouds, and that often creates some amazing photo opportunities with this lighting.
Quite a yaw dropping views I should say.
What a photogenic-looking tree and landscape. I have so many epic photos here that I don't know which one I should use for the cover photo of this post.
These were the clouds that rolled in towards us.
It brought heavy rain and strong winds. We all did have waterproof clothes, but the sideways downpour still managed to partially drench us. I managed to take this photo on the trail before quickly putting my camera away again.
When we started our trail, we saw a dog next to a house. This dog, for some reason, decided to follow as and joined us on our hike. He followed us for a couple of kilometers, even in the heavy rain. Before we arrived at the next small village you see in the photo above, the dog turned back.
About half an hour later, we arrived back in the town of Zakopane. At that point, the rain cleared, and I was able to take some photos again.
When we were back in town, the sun was beginning to go down, and fortunately we were able to see it. The sunset brightly lit up the clouds in bright yellow and orange behind the mountain. It yet again created such an epic photo opportunity for me.
I love this shot!!
I didn't expect to get so many amazing shots on this short hike... I love mountains so much. Watching the epic landscapes always brings on a feeling of calmness for some reason.
The next days were full of long hikes when we actually went into the national park and conquered several high mountaintops.
