It's one of the biggest tourist traps in Madeira no doubt but also one of the must-do activities when you visit. The cable car starts at sea level next to the ocean and goes up for about 15 minutes, over the bustling city of Funchal, up to the mountains. Keep in mind that it's quite expensive for just a cable car ride. They take 20 euros per person for one way. The cable car does bring you up to the point where you can find quite the famous spot of Monte Palace's tropical garden. That was also the place we visited but that's the subject of another post.

The ticket is expensive but for that, you can get some really great views. I don't know many places where you can get a cable car ride over a whole city. If there even are such places elsewhere. You can tell me in the comments if you know another place with a cable car ride like this.

I think it's worth doing once. At least I didn't regret the money I spent on it since it's an experience like you can't get elsewhere.
