While traveling in Madeira, we had booked a tour that took us offroading on some rugged mountain roads. Our endpoint was actually a wine tasting but we did not take a straight road to the location. Our guide took us on some roads that are impossible to drive with a normal car. This is the car we used for driving.
We turned off a good road and instantly we were in a bush pretty much where there was a thin path. It was also extremely steep. It doesn't look that steep on the photo but it is.
Whenever there was a clearing, some incredible views over the surrounding valleys appeared, it was amazing.
Some parts of the path were so steep that I actually thought that the car is rolling over soon lol 馃榾. Besides me and my girlfriend, there was an English couple and a US couple that were also on this tour. Our guide regularly asked us if we were too scared and wanted to continue. Fortunately, no one shit their pants and everybody loved it.
At some point, something happened with the car and the handbrake got partially stuck and it made a horrible screeching sound that we had to live with until the end of this ride. Otherwise, it was a cool experience in the wild with stunning views.
The company that we used for this tour was Adventure Madeira. Definitely check them out if you ever travel there and want a tour. They have many tours to choose from and the guide we got was great, talkative and funny. I sure can recommend!
