Obedska Bara is the rest of the abandoned riverbed of the Sava River. It is located in Serbia about 40 kilometers west of Belgrade. This swamps area is a nature reserve and extends over 9,000 acres. In this area, vegetation is wet and it abounds in meadows and forests.
Because of this, it is an ideal habitat for over 200 bird species and over 50 species of mammals.
The plant world is also very rich. A large number of mushrooms and mosses are present.
In the second half of the 19th century, this area was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and it was proclaimed natural reserve. It is one of the oldest natural reserves in the world.
One part of this reserve is arranged and visitors can enter the inaccessible part of the swamp through the wooden bridge.
Visitors can go with a boat a good part of the swamp and see many species of animals and plants.
