What do you see when you look at this work?
For me, this painting is a chaotic dialogue between two colliding worlds. Looking at it, I feel the salty breeze of an industrial port hit by a storm, but also the calm of a sky trying to break through the clouds.
The color palette:
The undisputed protagonist is cyan and turquoise blue, which bathes the entire composition, from the sky to the water. On this liquid base, islands of color emerge:
· Ocher and brown: They represent the earthly, the rock or perhaps the remains of a dock and abandoned buildings.
· Deep blacks and grays: They give weight and structure, like silhouettes of heavy machinery or imposing shadows.
· The touches of intense red: They are the heartbeat of the work. Small flashes of energy that break the coldness of the blues and catch the eye.
Technique and texture:
I have worked with the dripping (splattering) and impasto (thick application of paint) techniques. I have not sought linear perfection, but the emotion of the gesture. White splashes simulate churning sea foam, while thick, rough strokes in the middle suggest an eroded coastline.
The story behind the work:
I began this painting without a prior sketch, letting the brush and palette knife guide the way. It's a visual metaphor for how cities move forward despite the elements. That central horizontal line is the border where civilization (the dark and structured) meets untamed nature (the water). The result is a landscape that vibrates, that is in constant movement.

¿Qué ves cuando miras esta obra?
Para mí, esta pintura es un diálogo caótico entre dos mundos que chocan. Al mirarla, siento la brisa salada de un puerto industrial azotado por una tormenta, pero también la calma de un cielo que intenta abrirse paso entre las nubes.
La paleta de colores:
El protagonista indiscutible es el azul cian y turquesa, que baña toda la composición, desde el cielo hasta el agua. Sobre esta base líquida, surgen islas de color:
· Los ocres y marrones: Representan lo terrenal, la roca o quizás los restos de un muelle y edificios abandonados.
· Los negros y grises profundos: Dan peso y estructura, como siluetas de maquinaria pesada o sombras imponentes.
· Los toques de rojo intenso: Son el latido de la obra. Pequeños fogonazos de energía que rompen la frialdad de los azules y atrapan la mirada.
Técnica y textura:
He trabajado con la técnica de dripping (salpicaduras) e impasto (aplicación gruesa de pintura). No he buscado la perfección lineal, sino la emoción del gesto. Las salpicaduras blancas simulan la espuma del mar revolviéndose, mientras que los trazos gruesos y ásperos en la parte media sugieren una costa erosionada.
La historia detrás de la obra:
Comencé este cuadro sin un boceto previo, dejando que el pincel y el cuchillo de paleta guiaran el camino. Es una metáfora visual de cómo las ciudades avanzan a pesar de los elementos. Esa línea horizontal central es la frontera donde la civilización (lo oscuro y estructurado) se encuentra con la naturaleza indomable (el agua). El resultado es un paisaje que vibra, que está en movimiento constante.
