Now that I have been able to harvest plenty of calendula flowers and petals, it's time to start restocking my homemade soap inventory.
Calendula Soap Ingredients
- 1-pound M&P Goat's Milk Base soap
- 1-teaspoon calendula powder
- 1/4-teaspoon Tea Tree Oil
- 2-tablespoons ground up oatmeal
- 1-teaspoon dried calendula petals
- Essential oils- eucalyptus and lemon grass- about 10-15 drops of each
Follow instructions on the M&P soap label for melting, Then add all the other ingredients and pour into prepared silicone soap tray(s). To be prepare my tray I sprayed it with isopropyl alcohol before pouring the hot soap then again after it has been poured. Let it cure for a minimum of 24-hours in the mold before removing to cut.
After it has cured for the 24-hours, start cutting with a sharp knife into desired sizes. I cut mine about an inch thick and ended up with 11 bars of soap. Half will be going to my youngest daughter for my grand-daughter; who has eczema and severe dry skin. The calendula soap with its healing properties helps ease the redness, itchy skin and dryness. You can also add some sweet almond oil and honey to this recipe for added soothing properties.
