Good morning everyone, today I would like to share with you my personal experience in using almond as a phytotherapeutic remedy.

Description: deciduous tree.

Minimum cultivation temperature: -5 °C.

Balsamic period: August.

Toxicity: high, the plant extract of the bitter variety is not permitted in food supplements. Do not take Prunus amygdalus supplements during pregnancy and breastfeeding, always consult a doctor before taking phytotherapeutic preparations based on this plant.

Beneficial properties: laxative and dermoprotective.

Confirmed activities: melliferous plant and food (seeds).

Active ingredients: amygdalin, emulsin, calcium oxalate and hydrocyanic acid.

PREPARATIONS

Oil: obtained from the seeds, for the laxative function (internal use).

Oil: obtained from the seeds, for the dermoprotective function (topical use).

NOTE

Italian law provides for a maximum quantity of hydrocyanic acid equal to 1 mg/kg in foods and beverages and 50 mg/kg in nougat and other products containing bitter almonds.

Originally from Central Asia, it owes its diffusion in the Mediterranean basin to the Greeks, between the 5th and 4th centuries BC.

The almond tree is one of the few plants to flower in the winter, however it is sensitive to temperatures below zero degrees.

Buongiorno a tutti, oggi vorrei condividere con voi la mia esperienza personale nell'utilizzo del mandorlo come rimedio fitoterapico.

Descrizione: albero deciduo.

Temperatura minima di coltivazione: -5 °C.

Periodo balsamico: agosto.

Tossicità: alta, l‘estratto vegetale della varietà amara non è ammesso negli integratori alimentari. Non assumere integratori di Prunus amygdalus in gravidanza e allattamento, consultare sempre un medico prima di assumere preparati fitoterapici a base di questa pianta.

Proprietà benefiche: lassativo e dermoprotettivo.

Attività confermate: pianta mellifera e alimento (semi).

Principi attivi: amigdalina, emulsina, ossalato di calcio e acido cianidrico.

PREPARAZIONI

Olio: ottenuto dai semi, per la funzione lassativa (uso interno).

Olio: ottenuto dai semi, per la funzione dermoprotettiva (uso topico).

NOTE

La legge italiana prevede una quantità massima di acido cianidrico pari a 1 mg/kg in alimenti e bevande e di 50 mg/kg nel torrone e altri prodotti contenenti mandorle amare.

Originario dell‘Asia centrale deve ai Greci la sua diffusione nel bacino del Mediterraneo, tra il V e il IV secolo a.C.

Il mandorlo è una delle poche piante a fiorire nel periodo invernale, tuttavia è sensibile a temperature sotto gli zero gradi.
