The impact of technology on the human race is huge and it's hard to choose one of the inventions today has the best. Every invention serves a significant purpose and we can't look down on any because it's not easy up with something spectacular.
It took many of these inventors decades while some never even got to complete what they started because they got injured severely while there were those who died and someone else had to complete the job. Many of these inventions weren't as advanced as they are today and we should as well appreciate people who are working day and night to take all these inventions to the next level.
In response to the Sci-fi Multiverse prompt, I have been thinking really hard and like I mentioned earlier, all inventions are important regardless of how small or big it is.
If I am to choose one invention as my favorite, it would be electricity. Something happened yesterday that made me believe electricity is practically one of every human needs in today's world.
While it was raining yesterday, electricity went off due to the wind and I knew it won't be coming up soon. The main problem was that we had a day off on Tuesday and we had barely used it for five minutes on Wednesday before the electricity went off.
By evening yesterday, electricity hasn't been restored and people were already on the stress hustling for water. Shops started powering their generator to run their business and thankfully, I had my power bank and Aba made solar power charged.
Later at night, electricity was restored and I could hear people screaming for joy immediately power came up. I rushed to pump water, charged my phone, powerbank and did the needful with other electronics.
It's a fact that the world runs on electricity and regardless of how it's been generated, we can't go on without it except if we are completely putting away the other technologies because there are just few inventions that don't have to depend on electricity to be functional.
Internet, Phones, Airplanes, Computers and many other vital inventions we use everyday needs electricity to operate so if the world runs out of electricity somehow which won't happen, it would be complete global chaos.
It's like returning to the ancient days when we had to do everything manually, I can confidently say that the world would struggle because of our population and demands.
A typical example was when the national grid collapsed sometimes last year and we had to burn fuel to generate electricity. In the space of 36 hours, I was shocked at house much business owners claimed to have spend just to keep their business going. That's less than two days, if it eventually happens for a week, a lot of business will shut down.
In conclusion, I would say that despite the importance of all inventions, electricity stands out because so many things needs it to operate especially in this digitalized world.
